G1 turns one year old today! We wanted to thank everybody who has supported us during this last year. It has been a crazy year for everybody, and we cannot thank our members enough for their support. Here’s to another year!

Please shop local this Black Friday at G1. There will be awesome sales in our pro shop for members and non-members alike. Additionally, for Friday 11/27 only there will be no start-up fee on memberships and the long-awaited 10-day punch passes!

Hey G1 Family,

Due to increased cases of COVID-19, Broomfield, Boulder, Denver, and over a dozen other counties are moving to Level Red Friday evening. As a member of our community, we are committed to doing our part to try and flatten the curve. This includes complying with a new State mandate for reservation systems. To be honest, we were expecting this and felt these new restrictions were only a matter of time. But because of that, we’ve put a lot of planning into how a revamped reservation system could look.

We are not changing our business hours, but we will be doing two-hour reservation time slots from 6am – 2pm. These are less busy times and we are honestly pretty quiet through mid-day, so there’s no reason to severely restrict those time periods. In this scenario, if you wanted to climb at say 9am, you could book an 8am-10am slot. We do not feel there will be a large demand for these time periods, so you could book a second time slot as well (the 10am-noon slot) to finish your workout by 11am if you wanted.

From 2pm – 10pm, we will be doing reservations every half hour for up to 10 people. Your time slot is good for two hours. So for example, if you reserve a time slot at 4:30pm, we ask that you complete your session no later than 6:30pm. We decided on these lower capacity, but more frequent slots because we feel it allows the most flexibility for you. We honestly have not been hitting capacity limits very often, so this should present a minimal inconvenience for you and we are doing our best to minimize the impact on your experience within G1.

Regardless of when you come in, please continue to help us with capacity limits by checking out at the front desk when you leave. Reservations will take effect this coming Saturday, November 21st, and will last until the County allows us to operate otherwise. You can book up to one week in advance and reservations for the upcoming week are already live via the link below.

Yoga and fitness classes will remain intact, though with a small reduction in capacity limits. Also, reservation slots will be carved out specifically for those looking to partake in the class.

If you are participating in the USAC Event please head over to our Youth Programs page for more information on registering and what participating will look like this year. If you are a member or guest who is curious about how this event might impact your day-to-day at the gym, you are in the right place.

The largest impact on your day-to-day will be bouldering area closures. These will only happen this week and are outlined below. Starting Friday, November, 20th there will be brand new boulders available for everybody and anybody to try.

Starting this Wednesday, November 18th the left half of the upstairs bouldering area will be closed from 6am – 4pm.

Thursday, November 19th the right half of the bouldering area will be closed from 6am-8am followed by the entire bouldering area being closed 8am-4pm.

Friday, November 20th the entire bouldering area will be closed 8am-4pm.

Halloween is right around the corner and G1 is celebrating! Join us for Headlamp Climbing Saturday, October 31st from 5pm-8pm with members-only hours from 8pm-10pm. Day passes will be $18 for anyone in a costume.

Don’t forget the kids! There will be a Kids Candy Climb in our instructional area featuring, candy, coloring, and Halloween music. From 12pm-2pm children ages, 9 and under who are dressed in costume get free entry.

We will be closed Monday, September 7th in observance of Labor Day. Our team has been busting their butts opening a new gym, in a pandemic no less, and we want to honor their effort by giving them some much needed R&R. We love you all and can’t wait to see your own well-rested faces when we resume normal hours at 6 am on Tuesday.

Dear Members,

On Saturday we felt like it was our responsibility to take action and make the difficult choice on behalf of our members to close the gym to help combat Coronavirus COVID-19. Thank you for hanging in there the last few days as we work through a plan for moving forward.

We just opened our gym and already we are overwhelmed with the outpouring of support. Thank you so much for all the kind words, social media posts, emails, and phone calls. It has done wonders for our staff’s morale, which you can imagine, is quite shaken right now. We know many of you are concerned about our staff and please know that we will be financially supporting them to the best of our ability through this difficult time. We will do this for as long as we possibly can and many of you have already offered to continue your membership in a show of support during this crisis. We cannot say thank you enough as it is clear that we need to make a plea to our members to help ensure we can do this. We recognize not everyone is in a financial position to support us during this closure as you yourself may be facing some hardships of your own. If you are in a position to help though, it would mean everything to us if you kept your membership going. It is a tough choice, we know. Unfortunately it is one you will have to make for yourself, and there is no judgement on our end whatsoever. Members, we understand that closing means you have paid for a product that we cannot deliver. We hope you understand it was the right call and we will spend the rest of our days in business making it up to you. So, in regards to your membership, freeze it, keep paying for it uninterrupted, terminate it; you do what is best for you. Our number one priority is to help take care of our community and rest assured, we will all get through this.

If you are considering freezing or cancelling your membership in response to our efforts to help reduce the spread of the Coronavirus, we completely understand. G1 is a small, locally-owned business that employs 37 people, many of them full time, from the Broomfield/Westminster/Arvada area; they along with our members (you!) are the community that helped build this gym. For that, we will always be committed to providing the best experience possible. We hope that you have enjoyed your time at G1 and remember that when making your decision in regards to your membership. We will use this time to continue to evaluate our programs, improve our offerings, clean and set new routes, etc.

Some of you have asked if there’s anything else you can do. Keeping your membership would be great. In addition, you can purchase a gift card or a new membership from our website, and encourage others to do the same. Any support is huge for us right now.

For existing members, some course of action is required on your end. Please follow the links below to proceed:

·      Keep Your Membership Going to help us keep our employees paid!
·      Buy a Gift Card – We’ll all be back and your gift card will help pay our employees.
·      Buy a Membership – Be a part of the community we love so dearly

·      Freeze Your Membership – you can freeze your membership for free. If requested, we will credit you back for March dues as of March 15.
·      Cancel Your Membership – use the membership change form to cancel your membership.

Things like this never come along at a good time. For us, it is that much more difficult because we just opened.

We owe literally millions of dollars and have not had the opportunity to build a nest egg to fall back on, nor had the opportunity to build clout with our community in hopes that they might help carry us through a difficult and unprecedented event like this. The owners put up their house, cashed in their retirement fund, and put it all on the line.

We have dozens of employees depending on us to pay for food, rent, gas money, etc.

But in the end, this picture is what it’s all about for all of us, right? We aren’t medical experts, we know as much as you all do. Is this the right choice? We pay attention exclusively to the CDC, WHO, and State Medical Officials. And currently, none of those are shutting us down. The zoo is still open. Way bigger businesses than us, in and out of the climbing industry, are still open. It’s a scary time for everyone, especially a new business.

Ultimately though, we want to do what’s best for our children and our community, no matter the personal cost to us. So with a heavy heart, we have decided to close, only a week after our grand opening party. As of March 15th G1 Climbing + Fitness is closed.

We hope our members stay with us and we hope they understand our decision. Yes, you could have made the choice yourself to come in or not come in, but maybe it’ll help if we decide for you. We don’t know.

We will plan to be closed for the rest of the month, and we will re-evaluate as that time draws closer. If you’re a member, please look to our newsletter as we try to work through the logistics of all this and communicate to you the best we can.

Please bear with us as we come up with a game plan for closure.

Also, please take care of yourselves. Still wash your hands, still take time to laugh with one another, and even if we all physically distance ourselves, please stay connected, even virtually, with one another. We hope to see you all, healthy and happy, in the very near future.

Membership FAQ:

When are you opening?

Mid-February is our best estimate. We would love to give you a firm open date, but unfortunately construction is unpredictable and at best provides a moving target for completion. Mid-February is our best estimate. There’s a strong chance it will be before, but there’s also a chance it will be after. We will be posting updates on social media and in our newsletter and waiving initiation fees up until our opening.

Why am I paying $79 to sign up? Does that go towards my membership?

Yes it does! We are charging your first full month of membership dues at sign-up. Once we are open, we will charge you the pro-rated dues for the remainder of that month. You will then be charged your full membership fee on the 1st of your second full month.

I qualify for a discounted membership of $69/month. Why is that option not available?

All pre-opening auto pay memberships will be charged a $79 upfront fee. Upon your first visit, we will verify your status for the discount and adjust your billing accordingly.

I was one of the first 100 members to sign up. How will I get my Founding Members t-shirt?

We will have the t-shirts available at our tours. Please bring a photo ID for verification. Please note that we will need at least 2 hours notice prior to the tour to have your shirt available.

When does my membership start?

Great question! Your membership will start on your first visit to the gym, or 30 days after we open, whichever comes first.

Can I sign up for a corporate membership prior to opening?

Yes you can! You will still be charged $79 up front. Once your business/organization has 5 or more members, the discounted rate will be applied.
