G1 Events

To celebrate G1’s Birthday, we are hosting a fun bouldering competition and party! The bouldering challenges will include activities like dynos, obstacle courses, shadow walks, and many other opportunities to flex your skills! Regular boulders will also be point-worthy. Prizes will be awarded to the winners and we’ll celebrate with food, beer, and Birthday Cake.

Beginners through advanced climbers are welcome! Everyone is competing against each other as equals which means boulder ratings are not a factor. You earn points for completing the challenges and/or boulder problems.

Party Rockin’ Competition Rules:

• In this competition, you are able to climb all of the available climbs at your own pace in your designated section. You can pick and choose which climbs you would like to complete.
• Each section of the bouldering area will have different challenges.
• In order to receive points on a regular boulder problem, you must have climbed the route without falling from the marked start hold to finish hold while staying on the designated route, with two hands on the final hold.*Multiple attempts can be made on the climbs in order to top them.
• Every challenge (on or off the bouldering wall) will have rules posted. Please read them to understand how to complete each challenge.

Scoring:

• Points will reflect the routes that you top during the duration of your section in the competition.
• Each boulder is worth +2 points. The challenges (on or off boulders) are worth more points then the regular boulders. Boulders and challenges may have zones or levels which will result in additional points collected. Ties will be broken by attempts.
• All regular boulders are worth the same points no matter the diffcultly rating/grade.
• Boulder problems with a challenge attached (example: dynos) are worth more points.
• The total points of boulders and challeneges completed will be your final score. The total score that can be given is 140 points.
• Attempts towards a top will be used to break ties and determine your rank in the competition.
  • Any contact with a climb will be counted as an attempt. This includes, but is not limited to: falling, false starts, foot slips, one hand finishes, bailing off the route, etc.

Please note that format, rules, and scoring will be discussed in greater detail during the 10 minute rules meeting preceding your section’s competition.
